  • Salary: Grade 5, £27,715 - £28,912 per annum, pro rata. Approximately £13,003 - £13,565 per annum (0.46917 FTE)
     
    Please Note: This is a part time, fixed-term position: 22 hours per week, 9.30 - 4.30 (3 days). 12.30 - 4.30pm (1 day). The contract will end in August 2026. This position will be based at both Avanti Meadows and Avanti Brook Primary School. 
     
    Are you passionate about inspiring young minds and fostering a love for physical education and sports? We are seeking an enthusiastic Sports Coach to join our team, helping to deliver a high-quality, broad, and balanced PE curriculum that encourages all pupils to reach their full potential. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful impact by promoting the importance of health, fitness, and teamwork while shaping the personal development of our pupils.
     
    As a Sports Coach, you will play a key role in planning and delivering engaging PE lessons, mentoring pupils, and preparing them for internal and external sports competitions. You will be instrumental in encouraging participation and promoting an active and healthy lifestyle for all pupils, both within the classroom and through extracurricular activities. From leading inter-school tournaments to supporting the organisation of exciting events like Sports Day, you’ll have the opportunity to create memorable experiences and instil a lifelong love of sports in our students.
     
    We are looking for a positive role model who can inspire pupils, provide a supportive learning environment, and work collaboratively with staff to ensure high standards of teaching and behaviour.

    What will you do?
    • Support in the planning and delivery of schemes of work and lessons that meet the requirements of the National Curriculum. 
    • To monitor and evaluate the assessment and feedback to pupils in line with whole school policy.
    • Support the setting of expectations for staff and pupils in relation to standards of achievement and the quality of learning and teaching. 
    • Support the PE/Sports leader to ensure that PE equipment is appropriate and available in order to deliver high quality PE.

    What are we looking for?
    • Diploma in Higher Education in Sports Management and Coaching Studies
    • Other qualifications such as: Level 1 Gymnastics, BTEC national award in sports, NVQ Level 3 in sports coaching etc.
    • The ability to effectively deliver high quality PE lessons to pupils of all ages and abilities including those with physical disabilities.
    • Experience of teaching pupils in groups of mixed ability and age (preferably primary).
    • Experience of teaching pupils with a range of additional needs, e.g. physical, SEN, EAL, SEMH
    • Commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all students
